COLUMBIA — Rock Bridge girls basketball players Megan and Allison Marshall may be forever linked by birth, but their unique personalities show they are different people.
Allison Marshall is the social one. On a typical night away from basketball, she’s probably out watching a movie with her teammates. As a senior co-captain, many of the girls on the team look up to her. Mike Marshall, the girls’ father, describes her as amiable. Read more
Rock Bridge eyes return to the playoffs.

Megan Marshall emerged as a legitimate outside threat last season, finishing with an average of 4.8 points per game. Rock Bridge lost a three-time all-state performer in Amaya Williams after last season, but Marshall and the Bruins return 73 percent of their scoring.
For the second straight year, the Rock Bridge girls basketball team will have to replace a key cog from its most successful run in program history.
Last year, the Bruins defended their district title and advanced to the Class 5 quarterfinals for the third consecutive year without current DePaul sophomore Katherine Harry providing an intimidating post presence.
This year, the Bruins need to replace the gritty determination and clutch shooting of three-time all-state selection Amaya Williams. Read more
All-purpose Millard, all-out Williams put scare in opponents.

Rock Bridge seniors Amaya Williams, left, and Trey Millard, right, are the Tribune’s high school athletes of the year for 2009-10. Williams was a three-time allstate selection from the Class 5 District 9 champion girls basketball team. Millard was a force on the football field, the basketball court and on the track for the Bruins. Millard has signed a commitment to play football at Oklahoma.

Intimidation can come in many forms.
On the football field, Rock Bridge senior Trey Millard was the picture of it with his athletic 6-foot-3, 250-pound frame bursting from his padded uniform. On the basketball court, the Rock Bridge girls had their own little intimidator in 5-7 senior Amaya Williams. Although hardly a physical presence, Williams was the last player an opposing coach or player wanted to see on the floor.

They weren’t going to let that ruin their opening-round game at the Class 3 District 8 Tournament last night in Hallsville.
It was defense that put fourth-seeded Southern Boone in position, but it was a strong run coming out of the locker room that carried the Eagles to a 56-44 victory over fifth-seeded School of the Osage.
“We’ve really been stressing to come out ready,” said senior guard Tillie Bill, who had a game-high 26 points, including five 3-pointers. “We’ve been doing a lot of stuff in the locker room to get ready.” Read more
